Steig Eric Johnson

Dr. Steig Eric Johnson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology at the University of Calgary's Faculty of Arts. His research focuses on lemur behavioral ecology, conservation biology, and tropical rainforest dynamics in Madagascar. He serves as Vice Chair of the IUCN Primate Specialist Group for Madagascar and leads projects on forest regeneration and seed dispersal in agricultural areas.

Research spans three decades in Madagascar's southeastern rainforests, examining lemur diversity, hybrid zones, and impacts of cyclones and deforestation. Current work investigates landscape-level processes affecting seed dispersers and forest regeneration in agricultural zones.
