dr hab. Radosław Kossakowski, prof. UG is a Professor at the University of Gdańsk, Faculty of Social Sciences, Institute of Sociology, Department of Sociology of Sport and Health. He serves as Deputy Dean for Research and International Cooperation and is a leading scholar in the sociology of football fandom, qualitative research methodology, and masculinities studies. Current role: Deputy Dean for Research and International Cooperation Academic affiliation: University of Gdańsk Research focus: Football fandom, gender dynamics, cultural sociology His research explores the intersection of football fandom, political ideologies, and social structures in Poland, with particular emphasis on the transformation of fan culture post-communism and the role of social capital in supporter movements. Recent work examines masculinities, gendered fan practices, and the socio-political dimensions of football stadiums as spaces of resistance and right-wing ideology. Analysis of his 15 most recent publications reveals trends in studying football's cultural impact, fan activism, collective memory, and the politicization of supporter identities across Europe. Themes include the evolution of hooliganism, gendered narratives in fandom, and the influence of historical mythologies on contemporary fan behavior. Scientific Awards Recipient of the First Place Award in the VI edition of the Kultura i Edukacja journal competition for the best book addressing culture, society, and education (for Budda w kulturze konsumpcji ) Kossakowski has led multiple research grants, including projects on female football fandom, supporter-led club governance, and cultural evaluations of Polish football's transformation. His collaborations with international scholars and participation in European conferences highlight his transnational research network. He contributes extensively to academic discourse through leadership in research teams, methodological innovation, and critical analysis of football's role in societal change, particularly in post-communist contexts.
