Dr. Brian McCauley is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) and a researcher at the Media, Management and Transformation Centre (MMTC). He holds a PhD from RMIT University, Australia, and has over a decade of teaching experience in Australia and Vietnam. His research focuses on esports, gaming, and digital culture, emphasizing marketing, communication, and social media applications. Key areas include the value of LAN parties, entrepreneurship in esports, and equality in gaming. He co-founded the Esports Research Network (ERN), an international collaboration involving institutions in Germany and Finland. His work integrates creative outputs like the mobile game 'Green Turtle Hero,' recognized as a top-tier research contribution. Current projects explore esports legitimacy, multi-genre festivals, and digital gaming culture in Vietnam. McCauley has published extensively in journals like the Journal of Media Business Studies and International Journal of Esports, and contributes to conferences such as the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS). He advises on esports event management, branding strategies, and sustainable practices in the gaming industry. McCauley collaborates with global networks to advance esports research and education, reflecting his commitment to bridging academic and applied perspectives in digital culture.
