Dr. Kristina Lilova is a Research Assistant Professor at Arizona State University's School of Molecular Sciences and affiliated with the Materials of the Universe Center. She holds a M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Sofia, a Ph.D. in Solid State Chemistry/Materials Science from the University of Sofia and University of Lorraine (France), and completed postdoctoral research at the University of California, Davis. Her research focuses on thermodynamics, calorimetry, and the stability of advanced materials such as oxides, sulfides, and alloys. Key areas include high-temperature material characterization, phase stability analysis, and surface energy measurements. She has expertise in geochemistry, nanotechnology, and surface science, with applications ranging from nuclear waste forms to mineralogical systems. Dr. Lilova teaches courses including Intro to Research Techniques and Honors Directed Study , emphasizing hands-on experimental methods and scientific inquiry. Her work bridges fundamental material science with practical applications in energy, environmental, and geophysical contexts. Her research portfolio includes over 30 peer-reviewed articles, with recent contributions to understanding thermodynamic properties of sulfide minerals, entropy-stabilized oxides, and alloy phase behavior. Her methodologies span calorimetric analysis, crystallographic characterization, and thermodynamic modeling.
