Andrew J. Moodie is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at Texas A&M University, College of Arts & Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Earth Science from Rice University (2020) and a B.S. in Geology from Lehigh University (2014). His research focuses on quantitative geomorphology and surface processes, particularly deltaic environments and their sustainability under natural and anthropogenic influences. He has conducted fieldwork in China, Wyoming, and other locations to study sediment transport and fluvial dynamics. Key research interests include geomorphology, sediment transport, river and delta stratigraphy, and sustainable delta management. His work integrates numerical modeling (e.g., pyDeltaRCM) and machine learning to understand landscape evolution and inform coastal management strategies. Recent publications highlight contributions to planetary geology (e.g., Martian crater analysis), delta sustainability modeling, and educational software development (SedEdu). He has received awards including the 2020 Best Thesis in Earth Science from Rice University and the 2016 Alison Henning Teaching Award. Grants include NSF funding for delta morphodynamics and community tool development. He mentors students and actively participates in professional service, including NSF panels and peer review for journals like Geophysical Research Letters. Labs/Teams: Texas A&M Surface Processes Research Group, contributing to interdisciplinary projects on fluvial systems and planetary surface processes.
