Evan Ramos is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology and Environmental Science at the University of Pittsburgh, joining formally in August 2024. Previously, he held an NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship at Rice University and Brown University, and was a Junior Fellow in the Rice Academy of Fellows. His research focuses on fluid-rock interactions in nutrient cycling, employing isotopic analyses and numerical models to understand Earth surface processes.
Educational Background: PhD in Geological Sciences (2021, University of Texas at Austin), M.S. in Geological Sciences (2017, UT Austin), and B.A. in Geophysics and Planetary Science (2015, Boston University).
Research interests include clay-mineral formation and organic carbon burial, watershed responses to climate change, floodplain hydrology, and wildfire/glaciation impacts on hydrochemistry. His interdisciplinary work aims to bridge geoscience sub-disciplines.
Awards include the NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship (2021) and Rice Academy Fellowship (2021). His research group, the Earth Surface Geochemistry (ESG) lab, explores climate-element cycle interactions through field, lab, and modeling approaches.
