Mathew Michael Domeier is an Associate Professor at the University of Oslo's Centre for Planetary Habitability. His research focuses on global paleogeography and the kinematic history of tectonic plates, exploring how plate motions influence Earth's dynamics, climate, and biosphere. He leads the ERC Consolidator Grant-funded 'EPIC' project, studying Ediacaran paleomagnetism and its implications for global change. His work integrates field data, statistical methods, and computational models to advance quantitative paleogeography.
Teaching includes courses on programming for geosciences, tectonics, and planetary physics. Notable contributions include developing tools like SubMachine for seismological analysis and advancing plate tectonic models, particularly in the Paleozoic era. Research groups affiliated include the Centre for Earth Evolution and Dynamics (CEED) and Earth Laboratory (IGGL).
