معرفی
Jens Boy is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Soil Science, Leibniz University Hannover, within the Faculty of Natural Sciences. He holds roles including Deputy Scientific Staff in the Faculty Council, member of the Examination Board for Geosciences, and University Assistant in the Soil Chemistry Group at the Institute of Soil Science. His research focuses on soil biogeochemistry, particularly in extreme environments like Antarctica and the Atacama Desert, including studies on mycorrhizal networks, nutrient cycling, and climate-soil interactions. He has contributed to over 90 publications since 2005, addressing topics such as biogenic weathering, microbial diversity, and soil organic matter dynamics. Boy is also actively involved in research networks like the BMBF BioTip project and the DFG-SPP earthshape initiative. His work bridges fundamental soil science with applied challenges like nutrient management in agriculture and climate change impacts.
Research interests include: Biogeochemistry in forest/agricultural ecosystems, biogenic weathering's role in soil formation, mycorrhizal plant-soil interactions, soil organic matter control variables, aerosol transport effects on ecosystems, biodiversity-driven soil processes, and climate-oriented financial derivatives. He advises on soil chemistry and collaborates internationally on projects ranging from Antarctic microbial ecology to desert extremophiles.
