Haylee DeLuca Bishop, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Psychology Department at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM), affiliated with the College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral & Social Sciences (CHABSS). She serves as Program Director for CHAD and leads the Close Relationships in Adolescence and Young Adulthood (CRAYA) Lab. Her research focuses on close relationships during adolescence and emerging adulthood, including peer dynamics, romantic relationships, and family transitions (e.g., adoption, foster care). She also specializes in program evaluation, having conducted reviews for psychology programs at CSU institutions. Her research explores predictors and consequences of relationship quality, conflict resolution, and the impact of social media and dating apps on relationship formation. She teaches courses such as Socioemotional Development, Risk & Resiliency in Childhood, and Advanced Research Methods in Developmental Psychology. Current lab members include Master’s students and undergraduates engaged in studies on LGBTQ+ relationships, post-dissolution adjustment, and adoptee/foster youth experiences. Recent work examines college adjustment through peer and romantic relationships, pandemic-era relationship satisfaction, and best practices for measuring relational experiences. The CRAYA Lab actively recruits students interested in developmental and social psychology.
