Gláucia Laís Salomão is a Researcher at the Department of Linguistics , Stockholm University, specializing in acoustic phonetics and voice science . Her work explores the vocal communication of emotions , focusing on relationships between acoustics, production, and perception of emotional voices, with neurobiological correlates of voice processing and empathy. PhD in Linguistics (Acoustic Phonetics, 2009) with KTH Royal Institute of Technology collaboration Active projects: Listening to others' emotions (RJ grant P22-0574, 2023-2025) Methods: fMRI , galvanic skin response (GSR) , and subjective emotional assessments Collaborations: Karolinska Institute , Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics , and European universities Her research reveals consistent patterns in emotional voice production across singing and speech, demonstrating how physiological parameters (subglottal pressure, glottal resistance) and acoustic features (LTAS, flow glottograms) correlate with emotional perception. Recent work combines neural imaging with psychophysiological measurements to map empathy mechanisms in voice processing. Scientific awards include: 3.7 million SEK from Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation (2023) SUBIC fMRI time grants (2021, 2023) Collaboration grants with SUNY , Geneva University , and Swiss Center for Affective Sciences
