Kenneth P. Bowman is the David Bullock Harris Professor of Geosciences and a Research Professor at Texas A&M University's Department of Atmospheric Sciences. He leads the NASA-funded Dynamics and Chemistry of the Summer Stratosphere (DCOTSS) project, studying the impact of overshooting convection on the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere using NASA ER-2 aircraft. His affiliations include collaborations with institutions such as Harvard University, Purdue University, and NOAA. Education: Ph.D. in Geophysical Fluid Dynamics from Princeton University (1984). Research focuses on atmospheric transport, stratospheric dynamics, satellite meteorology, and climate variability. Key projects include the DCOTSS campaign and the Stratosphere-Troposphere Analyses of Regional Transport (START) experiments. Bowman has advised numerous graduate students and holds grants from NASA's Earth Venture Suborbital program. Publications emphasize convective processes, stratospheric hydration, and monsoon dynamics, with over 100 peer-reviewed articles. His work combines observational data from satellites and aircraft with advanced modeling techniques.
