Dr. Monika Markowska is a Senior Research Fellow at Northumbria University's Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences. She earned her PhD in Geology from the University of New South Wales (2017) and holds additional degrees in Geography and Environmental Science. Her Royal Society University Research Fellowship supports research on precipitation changes in global drylands using geological archives.
Research focuses on:
- Speleothem-based climate reconstructions
- Pliocene-Miocene warm period analogs
