Marios Pitikakis is a Lecturer at the Computer Science Department of the University of Crete , where he teaches courses including Calculus, Database Management, Web Services, Logic, and Artificial Intelligence. He holds a PhD in Computer Science (2011) and dual BSc degrees in Computer Science (2000) and Mathematics (1996) from the University of Crete. His research focuses on Semantic Data Management, Medical Informatics, 3D Visualization, and STEM education , with applications in musculoskeletal disease detection, computer-aided diagnosis, and 3D biomedical data workflows. He has contributed to EU-funded projects like XRinVET, MultiScaleHuman, and PERCEIVE , integrating 3D technologies, digital libraries, and AI in healthcare and cultural heritage. Scientific Contributions include developing automated cartilage thickness measurement tools, patient-specific scaffolds for orthopedics, and ontologies for medical knowledge management. His work bridges Web Services, IoT, and Digital Entrepreneurship in VET education. Marie Curie PostDoctoral Fellowship (2013-2015) He has also taught secondary-level Informatics (2006-2017), covering programming, robotics, and microelectronics. His technical expertise spans Python, Java, 3D design, and grid computing .
