Dr. Tuba Nur Gide is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Health, The University of Sydney, and a post-doctoral researcher at the Melanoma Institute Australia. She is also a member of the Charles Perkins Centre and actively contributes to the Cancer Research Network and Sydney Cancer Partners. Dr. Gide completed her PhD in 2019 with a focus on biomarkers of response and resistance to anti-PD-1 based immunotherapies in metastatic melanoma. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Medical Science with Honors and she received the Australian Postgraduate Award during her doctoral studies. Dr. Gide's research centers on precision medicine approaches to cancer treatment, specifically developing predictive models to determine which patients will respond to immunotherapy versus those who would benefit from alternative treatments. Dr. Gide's work focuses on immunology, melanoma and skin cancer, and therapeutic development. She aims to move away from the 'one drug fits all' approach toward personalized immunotherapy that considers patients' clinical factors and tumor properties. Her research has been published in prestigious journals including Nature Medicine, Nature Communications, Clinical Cancer Research, and Cancer Cell, with a focus on the tumor immune microenvironment, biomarkers of response to immunotherapies, and mechanisms of resistance to cancer treatments. Dr. Gide leads the Personalised Immunotherapy Platform (PIP), a clinical tool developed to ensure advanced melanoma patients receive effective treatment based on their genetics and tumor biology. Her publications reveal a strong focus on spatial immune profiling, biomarker discovery, and understanding resistance mechanisms in immunotherapy. 2024 NHMRC Investigator Grant - EL1 2024 AAMRI Rising Star Finalist 2021 Cancer Institute NSW Early Career Fellowship 2017 Australia Day Awards, National Council of Women of NSW 2015 Australian Postgraduate Award Dr. Gide has secured significant grant funding including an NHMRC Investigator Grant in 2024 and Cancer Institute NSW grants in 2021. She works closely with renowned mentors including Professor Georgina Long, Professor Richard Scolyer, and Dr. James Wilmott. Dr. Gide is passionate about empowering women in cancer research and believes increased female representation in leadership positions is essential for encouraging young female researchers.
