Dr. Alexandra Tsedryk is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Modern Languages Department at Mount Saint Vincent University. She holds a BA and BEd from Minsk State Linguistic University, an MA from Western University, and a PhD from Dalhousie University. Her research focuses on French as a second language (L2), paraphrasing competence, lexical competence of advanced learners, phraseology, and language pedagogy. She teaches courses such as French words: Description and Pedagogy, and Structure and Variety in Contemporary French. Education: BA, BEd (Minsk State Linguistic University) MA (Western University) PhD (Dalhousie University) Research Interests: French L2 learning and teaching Phraseology and phraseodidactics Lexical competence and paraphrasing strategies Language acquisition in advanced learners Publications: Dr. Tsedryk has authored/co-authored books, book chapters, and peer-reviewed articles on topics such as lexical competence assessment, phraseological teaching strategies, and cross-linguistic studies of idiomatic expressions. Recent works include studies on French idioms and comparative lexical analysis between French-speaking regions. Professional Service: She organized the 2016 Atlantic Provinces Linguistic Association conference and contributed to academic committees for language education. She also served in community roles, including the Russian Society of the Maritimes. Teaching & Advising: Dr. Tsedryk teaches advanced French language courses and has advised numerous students through collaborative research projects and pedagogical innovations.
