Justin Korver is an artist and educator with a current appointment as Assistant Professor of Foundation at the Kansas City Art Institute since 2024. He previously served as a Senior Lecturer of Art at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, where he taught theory and practice of art courses. Education : BFA at Hope College (Holland, Michigan), MFA at the University of Texas at San Antonio (thesis on masculinity critique). Korver's research practice focuses on subverting historical gender roles through textile art, sculpture, and collaborative projects. His work interrogates mid-century design, minimalism, and the allegorical structures of medieval/renaissance hunting tapestries, integrating contemporary understandings of gender ambiguity. Recent exhibitions include solo shows at Blue Star Contemporary and Commercial_Gallery, with residencies at Kunstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin), Casa LÜ (Mexico City), and Rockland Woods (Seattle). His collaborative projects with Brittany Ham, such as The Chase , reframe traditional masculine/feminine binaries by associating femininity with hunting dogs and masculinity with the stag.
