Andrea Gargano is a Visiting Fellow at the Faculty of Science (Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences) and AIMMS at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Vienna (2013), focusing on aminophosphonate scaffolds from UGI-reactions. His research emphasizes advanced separation and characterization techniques including comprehensive two-dimensional liquid chromatography, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and electrophoresis. Key applications include monoclonal antibody analysis, polymer characterization, and modular synthesis platforms. Research Interests: Development of multimodal analytical platforms for biopharmaceuticals Chromatographic method innovation for complex molecules Flow chemistry for peptide/protein ligation Recent work highlights include an online platform for monoclonal antibody characterization (Analytica Chimica Acta, 2025) and a sulfur(VI) fluoride exchange ligation system (Nature Synthesis, 2024). Notable awards include the NWO Veni Grant (2015) and Ernst-Bayer-Preis (2013). Grants & Collaboration: Active in interdisciplinary collaborations with industry and academia.
