Freek Ariese

Dr. Freek Ariese is an Associate Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, affiliated with the Faculty of Science. He holds dual appointments in the Biophotonics and Medical Imaging department and the LaserLaB - Biophotonics and Microscopy research group. His research focuses on advanced spectroscopic and microscopic techniques, particularly Raman spectroscopy and its applications in biomedical optics and environmental analysis.

He teaches courses such as Advanced Spectroscopy, Microscopy Techniques for MNW, and Spectroscopic Analysis. Ariese has supervised 17 PhD theses, reflecting his active role in mentoring early-career researchers.
