His academic credentials include a B.A. in English from Moravian College, a Master's of Education with Mass Media and Communication concentration from East Stroudsburg University, and a Ph.D. in Mass Media and Communication from Temple University. Stine's research centers on international media systems, communication ethics in digital environments, and journalistic practices. He pioneered interdisciplinary study-abroad programs in London and Istanbul, emphasizing hands-on documentary production and oral history methodologies. His work bridges theoretical ethics with practical media creation, particularly through collaborations with History faculty. His publications reveal consistent focus on media ethics education, oral history applications, and adapting communication pedagogy to technological shifts. Key themes include community-based ethical frameworks, interdisciplinary teaching models, and preserving cultural narratives through student-produced documentaries. Accolades include four Wilkes University Outstanding Faculty Merit Awards (2004, 2009, 2011, 2012), an Outstanding Interdisciplinary Teaching Award (2005), and an Oral History Grant (2010). As an advisor, Stine mentors students in radio broadcasting and television production at WCLH and Shelburne Center. His grant-funded oral history projects with Dr. John Hepp produced documentaries available at campus bookstores, demonstrating applied learning through community storytelling initiatives. He actively utilizes university media facilities for student training, creating real-world production experiences that connect classroom theory with professional broadcasting standards.
