Yorgi Mavros is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. He holds roles as Deputy Director of the Thermal Ergonomics Laboratory (TEL) and is a member of the Heat & Health Research Incubator (HHRI). His PhD was awarded by the University of Sydney. Research interests include exercise physiology, chronic disease management, sleep optimization in hot environments, and thermal physiology. Current projects focus on cooling interventions for occupational health, sleep quality improvement, and exercise therapies for conditions like ADHD and Multiple Sclerosis. Education: PhD (University of Sydney) Research Themes: Obesity, Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease; Healthy Ageing; Lifespan Health Recent Article Trends: Recent work emphasizes heat stress physiology, pediatric thermoregulation, and interventions targeting vulnerable populations like older adults and factory workers. Studies often combine clinical trials with mechanistic insights into thermal and metabolic pathways. Grants: Includes NHMRC grants for sleep quality research and dementia-focused exercise trials. Notable projects: 'Optimising sleep quality inside insecticide treated mosquito nets', 'Exercise in ADHD', and 'Frailty reduction in older adults'. Labs/Teams: Leads TEL and collaborates with HHRI on heat-related health initiatives. Active in the BOSEM network promoting sport and exercise medicine.
