Qichen Yang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Central Florida (UCF). He holds a Ph.D. in Power Electronics from Georgia Institute of Technology (2018) and served as a postdoctoral scholar and research faculty member at Florida State University's Center for Advanced Power Systems until 2024. His research focuses on power electronics, insulation technology, high-voltage engineering, and renewable energy systems. Education: B.Sc., Xi’an Jiaotong University (2013); Ph.D., Georgia Tech (2018) Research interests include medium-voltage multilevel converters, DC circuit breakers, and advanced insulation systems for aerospace applications. Recent publications highlight innovations in hybrid DC circuit breakers, aerospace insulation design, and thermal performance of SiC-based power modules. His work bridges theoretical models with experimental validation in high-voltage systems.
