Dr. Sampath Kumar Amaravadi is an Assistant Professor in Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy at the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Birmingham, UK. He has previously held academic positions at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India, Gulf Medical University, UAE, and the University of Chichester, UK. Education: PhD in Exercise and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Manipal Academy of Higher Education Master of Physiotherapy – Cardiopulmonary Sciences (ICU Management), Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Dr NTR University of Health Sciences Dr. Amaravadi's research centers on the role of physical activity in the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases, particularly cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and obesity. He is deeply involved in cardiopulmonary physiotherapy, including cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, exercise testing and prescription, and diabetic foot care. His work investigates how physiotherapy interventions improve cardiopulmonary function and quality of life in conditions such as COPD, asthma, and heart failure. His most recent publications reflect a strong focus on systematic reviews and clinical studies in physiotherapy, particularly in inspiratory muscle training, post-surgical rehabilitation, stroke recovery, and diabetic complications. The research spans diverse populations, including post-stroke patients, surgical candidates, and individuals with chronic respiratory and metabolic conditions. He has secured external research grants and completed funded projects. He serves as an editorial board member for Scopus-indexed journals and as an academic editor for PLOS One. His professional engagement includes over 30 international workshops, conferences, and CMEs, and he has been invited as a speaker at various academic events. He is affiliated with several professional bodies, including the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (UK), Health and Care Professions Council (UK), American College of Sports Medicine, European Respiratory Society, and Emirates Medical Association.
