Dr Isobel Renzulli serves as Senior Lecturer in Law at Brunel Law School within Brunel University London's College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences. She joined Brunel in September 2018 after lecturing positions at the University of Greenwich and visiting roles at King's College London, the Open University, and the University of Reading. Her educational background includes: PhD in Law from the University of Bristol PG Cert in Higher Education from the University of Greenwich MSc in Gender Studies from the London School of Economics MA in Human Rights and Democratisation from the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation Laurea degree from the University of Bari, Italy Dr Renzulli's research centers on Human Rights Law and Public International Law , with specialized focus on torture prevention mechanisms, prisoners' rights within criminal justice systems, and gender discrimination in judicial processes. Her work critically examines the implementation of international human rights standards in domestic penal contexts and the theoretical foundations of human rights obligations. Her publication record (2015-2025) reveals consistent thematic focus on human rights enforcement in correctional settings, with increasing attention to gender dimensions and regional implementation challenges. She publishes primarily in specialized human rights journals including Netherlands Quarterly of Human Rights and International Journal of Human Rights . Her notable recognition includes: Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) scholarship during doctoral studies Prior to academia, Dr Renzulli gained practical human rights experience through roles at the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva and various non-governmental organizations across Africa and the UK.
