Rebecca Thorburn Stern is a Professor of International Law at the Department of Law, Uppsala University. She is also a Guest Professor in Human Rights at the Department of Law, Lund University (2024-2027) and affiliated with the Institute for Future Studies. Her primary research areas include human rights, children's rights, asylum and migration law, and the interplay between international and national law.

Her research explores temporal dimensions in migration law, age discrimination in asylum procedures, and legal resilience against rights erosion. She co-founded the GL/UMIN network and led Uppsala Forum for Democracy, Peace, and Justice (2022-2024). Publications span asylum law interpretation, refugee status adjudication, and cross-border legal consistency.
