Ylva Hasselberg

Ylva Hasselberg is a Professor at the Department of Economic History, Uppsala University, Sweden. Her work bridges economic history, sociology of science, and analysis of academic capitalism, with a focus on personal networks, gift economy, and university research policy. She is currently leading two projects: The Swedish gift explosion 1942-1951 (funded by Handelsbanken) and Studentpengen – actors, networks and ideas about efficiency and quality in Swedish university education 1992-1995 (funded by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond).

Research Trends in her recent publications include interdisciplinary studies of economic history, network theory applications, and critiques of neoliberal university reforms. Grants & Projects include funding from Handelsbankens Forskningsstiftelser (2024, 2017), Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (2024), and earlier support from Torsten and Ragnar Söderbergs Stiftelser (2004) and MISTRA (2000).

Supervision spans four completed PhD students and two ongoing, with teaching experience in history, economic history, STS, and social sciences programs.
