Mikael Lindahl is a Professor of Economics at the University of Gothenburg, affiliated with the Department of Economics within the School of Business, Economics and Law. He holds a PhD from Stockholm University (2001) and served as a docent there from 2007. His research focuses on empirical labor economics, particularly intergenerational mobility and education economics. Lindahl has held prestigious positions including the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences Research Fellowship (2010-2015) and the Torsten Söderbergs Research Professorship (2017-2020). He has received major grants such as the ERC Starting Grant (2010), and is affiliated with CESifo, IFAU, IZA, and UCLS. His work has been published in top journals like the American Economic Review and Quarterly Journal of Economics.
Education: B.A. (Economics, Stockholm University, 1994), PhD (Stockholm Doctoral Program in Economics, 2001). His research explores mechanisms behind intergenerational transmission of human capital, wealth mobility, and corruption in education systems. Notable studies include analysis of Swedish adoption data to disentangle genetic and environmental effects, and evaluations of school choice reforms.

He has supervised over a dozen PhD students, many of whom have secured academic positions. Lindahl’s recent work examines four-generation human capital persistence and health longevity across generations using novel econometric methods.
