Dionysios Kyropoulos is a Professor of Historical Performance and Academic Studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama since 2018. He specializes in teaching acting, movement, and gesture to singers, while also supervising dissertations in the Creating and Performing Knowledge course. His dual expertise spans performance, stage direction, and research into Baroque gesture, integrating historical techniques with modern practices for classical singers. Education: Began acting studies at Greece’s Theatre of Changes, followed by music at City University London. Trained as an opera singer at Guildhall, earned a doctorate from Oxford (2023), and held a visiting fellowship at Harvard. His doctoral work developed a new teaching method synthesizing 150 historical treatises on gesture and rhetoric with modern pedagogy. Research interests include Baroque performance practices, neurodiversity coaching , and empowering performers through interdisciplinary methods. He has directed operas (e.g., Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo ) and plays, blending historical and contemporary approaches. Awards include FHEA and affiliations with EMCC and ADSHE. Coaching: Specializes in ADHD support across academics, careers, and family life, leveraging his EMCC-accredited coaching certification. Founded Theatron Novum (Oxford’s student theatre/opera group) in 2014 and serves as Co-Chair of PASSHE.
