Loretta Innocenti is a retired Professor at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, affiliated with the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies. Her research focuses on English Literature, Renaissance Theatre, and 18th/19th-Century Dramatic Studies. She has contributed to critical editions of works by Shakespeare, Hazlitt, and others, emphasizing themes like theatrical adaptation, literary criticism, and intertextuality.
Her teaching includes courses on Renaissance Literature, English Literature, and Theatre Studies at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Notable research projects include studies on cosmopolitanism in European literatures and moral antinomies in literary representations (1500–2000). She co-led projects like 'Figure del Cosmopolitismo' and 'Il piacere del male,' exploring cross-cultural themes and ethical dilemmas in literature.
In publications, Innocenti analyzes Shakespearean criticism, performance theory, and historical adaptations. Recent works include studies on Romantic-era theatre criticism and Restoration drama. Her academic contributions span over 50 years, reflecting deep engagement with literary history and critical methodologies.
