Marianne Riddervold is a Research Professor at the ARENA Centre for European Studies at the University of Oslo, specializing in international relations and European integration. Her work focuses on transatlantic relations, EU foreign policy, maritime security, and crisis management. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Oslo (2011), with research conducted at Harvard Kennedy School. Riddervold has held visiting positions at UC Berkeley and served as a Senior Fellow there. Previously, she was a Professor of International Relations at Inland Norway University. Her research interests include EU institutional dynamics, transatlantic security relations, and global commons governance. Key projects include the Horizon-funded RECLAIM (post-truth politics), REDIRECT (representative democracy), and TransatDefence (transatlantic defense shifts). She collaborates with institutions like NUPI and Northeastern University’s Center for International Affairs. Riddervold’s publications analyze EU crisis responses, maritime strategy, and space diplomacy. Current projects address Norway-EU relations, EU enlargement policies, and geopolitical challenges in the Arctic. Her work integrates theoretical approaches to institutional adaptation with empirical studies of policy implementation. She has secured funding from EU Horizon, Norwegian Research Council, and defense ministries. Her research emphasizes policy recommendations for governance in contested domains.
