Maxime Cohen is a Professor of Retail and Operations Management and the Scale AI Chair in Data Science for Retail at McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management. He serves as Academic Director of the Bensadoun School of Retail Management and holds courtesy appointments in Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research focuses on integrating AI and data science into retail, operations, and public policy, with collaborations spanning industries like healthcare, retail, and conflict analytics. He has authored influential books including *Pricing in the Age of AI* (MIT Press, 2026) and *Demand Prediction in Retail* (Springer, 2022). Cohen holds a PhD in Operations Research from MIT and has held roles at NYU Stern, Google AI, and as a high-frequency trader. He advises startups like Intelligems and Cherre, and leads initiatives at institutions such as the Jewish General Hospital and MyOpenCourt.org. His work has been recognized with awards like the Poets&Quants 40-Under-40 and MSOM Young Scholar Prize. Research interests include fair machine learning, field experiments in retail, and AI-driven decision-making. His grants include SSHRC and NSERC funding for projects on AI governance and socially responsible retail practices. Over 20 students have graduated under his supervision, many securing roles at top firms and universities.
