Elizabeth Han is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Systems at McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management. Her research focuses on behavioral science, emotions, human-AI interaction, online behavior, and social media. She holds a PhD in Information Technology Management from Georgia Institute of Technology (2022) and dual bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2017).
Her work examines the strategic use of emotions and choices in service chatbots, aiming to understand how AI agents can effectively interact with customers. Notably, she has explored the implications of emotional expressions in customer service AI, balancing the promise of empathy with potential pitfalls. Her research has been recognized by the FRQSC New Academics Grant (2023) and an award from the Association for Information Systems (AIS).
Publications highlight themes like chatbot design ethics, customer engagement in social media campaigns, and managing interruptions in imperfect AI service systems. Han's research bridges technical AI capabilities with human-centric outcomes, influencing both academic discourse and practical service implementations.
