Maria Constança Pignateli de Sousa e Vasconcelos is an Associate Professor at Universidade Lusófona, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences, Education and Administration and the Department of Design. She leads the Master’s program in Teaching Arts and is actively involved in interdisciplinary research through CeiED and CICANT research centers. Her research interests include Visual Arts, Arts Education, Design, and Inclusive Museology, with a focus on the intersection of art, technology, and sustainability. She explores how drawing and visual practices evolve in digital contexts and contribute to educational and cultural development. Her scholarly work, though concentrated between 2006 and 2014, reflects deep engagement with the philosophical and pedagogical dimensions of art. Recent research activity is evident through participation in major projects like MUSDIS and MUBIESUS, which emphasize inclusive communication, sustainability in museums, and arts-based education for social justice. Challenges to Drawing in the Face of New Technologies (2012): Examines digital transformation in artistic practice. The Inalienable Function of Visual Arts (2011): A collaborative philosophical reflection on art’s societal role. She has supervised 40 academic works, indicating a strong commitment to mentoring students in arts and design. Her collaborations span international institutions in Lisbon and São Paulo, particularly in projects integrating art, education, and sustainability. She is part of a vibrant research network focused on redefining museology and cultural engagement through contemporary art practices.
