Dr. Lisa Graham-Wisener is a Reader in Health Psychology at Queen’s University Belfast (QUB), where she has been since 2018, after a period as Research Lead at Marie Curie Hospice Belfast. She holds a BSc (2010) and PhD (2018) from QUB, focusing on psychological adjustment in oesophageal cancer survivors and carers. Her academic roles include teaching on MSc programs (e.g., Clinical Health Psychology) and supervising doctoral students. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds Chartered Psychologist status. Her research focuses on psychological well-being in chronic conditions, particularly psycho-oncology, palliative care, and adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. She leads projects such as MusiCARER (music therapy for bereavement support) and SPINE-COS-AYA (core outcomes for scoliosis treatment). She is also co-investigator on initiatives like the NI Pancreatic Cancer charity’s digital serious game project. Her work has contributed over 45 peer-reviewed articles and addresses UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being. Dr. Graham-Wisener is actively involved in external roles, including honorary positions at Cardiff University and committees in palliative care and health psychology. She has received awards such as the ESRC Impact Acceleration Account Funding and is recognized for her contributions to compassionate communities and death literacy advocacy. Her teaching includes modules like ‘Psycho-oncology: Living with and Beyond a Cancer Diagnosis’ and ‘Applied Research Skills.’ She advises on grants, collaborates internationally, and engages in public health initiatives to improve quality of life and care for vulnerable populations.
