Ian J Saldanha is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Health Services, Policy and Practice at Brown University, serving as Assistant Director of the Brown University Evidence-based Practice Center (EPC). He holds a PhD from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (2015), an MPH (2007), and an MBBS from Grant Medical College (2006). His research focuses on evidence synthesis methodologies, comparative effectiveness research, outcomes research in ophthalmology, HIV/AIDS, and pregnancy-related conditions. He has collaborated with institutions like the Cochrane Eyes and Vision US Satellite and the Johns Hopkins Center for Clinical Trials and Evidence Synthesis.
Key research themes include systematic review methodologies, core outcome sets, and healthcare disparities. His work bridges clinical practice and policy through rigorous synthesis of medical evidence. Over 100 publications demonstrate expertise in systematic reviews across ophthalmology, women’s health, and clinical trials. Awards include the Thomas C. Chalmers Award (2014) and election to the Society for Research Synthesis Methodology (2019).
Teaching includes courses on epidemiology, evidence-based medicine, and clinical trials methodology. Active collaborations involve faculty across epidemiology, biostatistics, and neurology at Brown.
