Prof. Dietlind Stolle is a James McGill Professor of Political Science at McGill University's Faculty of Arts. She previously served as Director of the Inter-University Centre for the Study of Democratic Citizenship. Her research focuses on comparative politics, European politics, political participation, immigration policy, and gender dynamics in politics. She holds a PhD from Princeton University (2000) and has held visiting positions at institutions like the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin (WZB) and the European University Institute in Florence. Her academic accolades include the Royal Society of Canada Fellowship (2021), McGill's Faculty of Arts Research Award (2020), and the 2016 CPSA Teaching Excellence Prize. Her landmark book Political Consumerism: Global Responsibility in Action won the CPSA Comparative Politics Book Prize (2014). Current research projects include SSHRC-funded studies on Syrian refugee integration, attitudinal democratic backsliding, and the role of accents in social cohesion. She also investigates the political consequences of pregnancy and white identity dynamics in Canada.
