Francisco Javier Vigier Moreno is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philology and Translation at Pablo de Olavide University (UPO) in Seville, Spain. He has been working full-time at UPO since 2015 and is a prominent member of the INTERGLOSSIA research group focused on Intercultural Communication Processes. His academic journey began with a PhD from the University of Granada in 2010, where he studied the appointment of sworn translators-interpreters of English through academic accreditation. Dr. Vigier Moreno's research centers on legal translation, court interpreting, specialized translation teaching, and bilateral interpreting training. His work uniquely bridges theoretical translation studies with practical applications in judicial settings, refugee services, and business contexts. He has published extensively on the quality of interpreting services, the use of technology in legal translation, and innovative interpreter training methodologies that address real-world challenges. Analysis of his recent publications reveals a consistent focus on practical challenges in legal and public service interpreting, particularly within Spanish criminal courts and refugee/asylum contexts. His research often combines empirical corpus analysis with pedagogical applications, demonstrating his commitment to improving professional practice through academic research. He has made significant contributions to understanding outsourcing models in court interpreting and developing resources for interpreters working with refugees. As an external lecturer for the Master's Degree in Intercultural Communication, Interpreting and Translation in Public Services (part of the European Master's in Translation network), Dr. Vigier Moreno actively shapes the next generation of translation professionals. His dual role as both academic and practitioner—having served as a Sworn Translator-Interpreter of English appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2005—gives him unique insights into the profession. The INTERGLOSSIA research group he participates in conducts vital work examining intercultural communication processes, particularly how language services function in legal and public service contexts across Andalusia. His leadership in this group has fostered numerous collaborative projects addressing the evolving needs of interpretation and translation services in increasingly multilingual societies.
