Dr Isabel Paton is Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy and Associate Head of School (Learning and Teaching) within Charles Sturt University’s School of Allied Health, Exercise and Sports Sciences. She is an AHPRA-registered rural-generalist physiotherapist who continues clinical practice at Northeast Health Wangaratta, while also serving as Board Director for Beechworth Health Service and holding national roles with the Australian Physiotherapy Council and Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH).

Research Interests
Dr Paton’s research interrogates how allied-health students develop collaborative-practice capability. Her post-doctoral work is expanding findings from her 2021 PhD thesis, which explored the development of such capability within higher-education settings. Central themes include interprofessional education, simulation-based learning, problem-based learning, sustainable healthcare, and the translation of educational outcomes into clinical practice.
Across 15 research outputs (2014–2025) her scholarship consistently targets curriculum design that embeds collaborative competence, assessment of readiness for interprofessional practice, and strategies that sustain these capabilities in rural and remote healthcare environments.
