Role and Affiliation: Brian Brock is a Personal Chair in Moral and Practical Theology at the University of Aberdeen, within the School of Divinity, History, Philosophy & Art History. He joined Aberdeen in 2004 after postdoctoral studies at Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg and a DPhil in Christian Ethics from King’s College London. His research explores disability rights, medical ethics, environmental sustainability, and the role of scripture in shaping ethical practices. He emphasizes practical theology’s role in grounding abstract doctrines in lived experience. Awards and Recognition: Best Postgraduate Research Supervisor, Aberdeen University Students’ Association (2022) Alumnus of the Year Award, Loma Linda University (2018) Advising and Grants: Brock has supervised over 30 PhD students, many of whom have published their work. He collaborates with institutions like the Centre for Spirituality, Health and Disability and the Centre for Autism and Theology. His research projects include studies on grave goods practices and neurodiversity in academic contexts. Labs/Teams: Active in interdisciplinary initiatives such as the Christian Ethics of Farmed Animal Welfare (CEFAW) and the Aberdeen Approach to Theological Ethics. He co-edits the T&T Clark Enquiries in Theological Ethics series and serves as Managing Editor of the Journal of Disability and Religion .
