Bobbi Thompson serves as Assistant Professor of saxophone at Western University's Don Wright Faculty of Music in London, Ontario, where she also coordinates the Winds, Brass & Percussion Division and instructs Woodwind Instrument Techniques. Her academic credentials include a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a graduate Music Certificate from Bowling Green State University, a Master of Music Education from the University of North Texas, and a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Performance from the University of Idaho. Previously, she taught at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. As a performer, Dr. Thompson is a passionate advocate for contemporary music, frequently collaborating with guitarist Ariel Kasler in the Thompson-Kasler Duo to expand saxophone-electric guitar repertoire through commissions and performances. Her scholarly research centers on the saxophone compositions of American composer Marilyn Shrude. She maintains an active performance schedule with organizations including London Symphonia, Toledo Symphony Orchestra, Peterborough Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Wind Orchestra, Grand Theatre, Drayton Entertainment, Toledo Jazz Orchestra, and the University of North Texas Lab Bands.
