Saravanamuthu Vigneswaran is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Technology Sydney's Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, where he previously served as Distinguished Professor and Director of the Centre for Technology in Water and Wastewater. His research focuses on sustainable water management, membrane technologies, resource recovery, and water reuse. Vigneswaran's work develops innovative solutions for water treatment challenges, including hybrid membrane systems, contaminant removal, and desalination technologies. His recent projects address microplastic removal, rare earth element recovery, and sustainable water infrastructure in developing countries. He has received numerous honors including IWA Distinguished Fellow status and the Google Impact Challenge Technology Against Poverty Prize. His publications demonstrate consistent innovation in water treatment methodologies with applications in both developed and developing contexts.
