Paula Cristina Vieira Barbosa is an Assistant Researcher at the Department of Physics, University of Aveiro, affiliated with CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials. Her research focuses on developing advanced materials for energy storage and conversion systems, emphasizing sustainable solutions like biopolymer-based electrolytes and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). She holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Minho (2011) and has been a postdoctoral researcher at CICECO since 2013. Her work integrates nanotechnology and electrochemistry, addressing challenges in proton-conducting materials, functional nanocomposite membranes, and 2D/3D hybrid MOFs. Key projects include the NGS Innovation Pact for next-generation energy storage technologies aligned with EU sustainability goals. She has authored over 14 peer-reviewed articles, with contributions to Journal of the American Chemical Society , Chemical Science , and Advanced Materials Technologies . Education: Bachelor's in Physics and Chemistry (Education), University of Minho (2004) PhD in Chemistry, University of Minho (2011) Her research interests span nanostructured materials, functional membranes, and cost-effective energy systems. Awards include the 2023 CICECO Young Researcher Award for contributions to sustainable electrochemical materials. Current projects emphasize biopolymer-ionic liquid blends and scalable MOF processing for industrial applications.
