Carolina Rodezno is an Associate Research Professor and Lead Researcher at the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) within Auburn University's College of Engineering. Her expertise revolves around asphalt technology, pavement durability, and sustainable construction materials. Rodezno holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Nicaragua's Catholic University.
Her research focuses on enhancing asphalt mixture performance through strategies like recycled binder utilization, additive modification, and balanced mixture design. Key areas include improving resistance to cracking, moisture susceptibility, and long-term durability. She has contributed to NCAT's test track studies and national guidelines for pavement design and material selection.
Rodezno’s work bridges laboratory analysis and field implementation, emphasizing practical solutions for infrastructure challenges. She has published extensively on asphalt binder rejuvenation, structural characterization, and industry-standard testing protocols. Her research aligns with broader goals of sustainable infrastructure and reducing environmental impact through material innovation.
Her professional contributions include developing frameworks for balanced mix design and advancing mechanistic-empirical pavement design methodologies. She is actively involved in Auburn’s engineering outreach and education, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration in transportation engineering.
