Dr. Zengxia Pei is a Lecturer and Horizon Fellow at The University of Sydney's School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, where he leads research in nanomaterials for sustainable energy storage and conversion. He holds a PhD from City University of Hong Kong (2017) and joined the University of Sydney in 2018 as a Vice-Chancellor’s Fellow. His work focuses on aqueous batteries, polymer electrolytes, and electrocatalysis, with notable contributions to zinc-ion battery technology and energy storage systems. Pei has been recognized as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher (2020–2024) and received the ARC DECRA Fellowship (2020–2023).
Research Interests: Dr. Pei’s research explores nanomaterials' structural-property relationships, advanced electrode materials, and hydrogel electrolytes for next-generation energy storage. His group aims to develop affordable zinc batteries supporting net-zero emissions. Current projects include zinc battery electrode/electrolyte design and CO₂ electrocatalysis.
