Jinqiang Zhang

Dr. Jinqiang Zhang is a Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), within the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. He holds an ARC DECRA Fellowship and focuses on energy storage/conversion technologies, including lithium batteries, CO₂ capture, and electrocatalysis. His research has led to over 100 high-impact publications and awards such as Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher and MAPS Early Career Award.

Education: PhD in Science (UTS, 2018), followed by postdoctoral work at UTS and the University of Toronto (2021–2023).

Research Interests: Development of functional organic molecules and single-atom catalysts for energy storage (lithium-ion, Li-air, Li-S batteries), electrocatalysis for water splitting and CO₂ reduction, and advanced materials for carbon-neutral technologies.

Grants: Secured over $2M as Chief Investigator for projects on CO₂ capture, battery materials, and sustainable cement production. Recent grants include ARC DECRA for high-energy batteries and UTS-funded initiatives.

Teaching: Coordinates courses like Clean Energy Technology and lectures on Inorganic Chemistry I. Engages in curriculum development for energy-related subjects.

Awards: Editor roles in journals like Batteries and Energy Materials; recognized as top 2% global scientist (Stanford University) and Nanoscale Emerging Investigator.
