Zara Whysall is an Associate Professor of Business Psychology at Nottingham Trent University's Nottingham Business School, affiliated with the Department of Human Resource Management. She bridges academia and industry through research, consultancy, and knowledge exchange, focusing on talent management, organizational culture change, and presenteeism. She teaches on Executive Education programs like the Global Executive MBA.
Education: PhD in Business Psychology from Loughborough University, MSc in Occupational Psychology from Nottingham University, BSc (First-class Hons.) in Human Psychology from Aston University.
Research Interests: Her work emphasizes applied research addressing contemporary business challenges, including organizational culture dynamics, health-performance interplay, and leadership development. She advocates for sustainable behavioral and cultural change methodologies, as seen in her PhD work applying the transtheoretical model to organizational interventions.
Grants & Projects: Led three Innovate UK-funded Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs), including projects with Fujitsu Ltd and Halo X-ray Technologies Ltd. Also spearheaded an internally funded IKEP project supporting Juno, a domestic violence charity, in developing staff well-being policies. Currently directs Research & Impact at Kiddy & Partners Ltd, focusing on leadership assessment and development.
Awards: Recognized with NTU’s Vice Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Practice (2022) and participation in the Future Research Leaders Programme. Holds Chartered Psychologist status and is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
Labs & Teams: Strand Lead in the Research Centre for People, Work and Organisational Practice; active in the Centre for Economics, Policy and Public Management and the Responsible and Sustainable Business Lab.
