Dr. Kevin Hunt is a Senior Lecturer in Culture & Context at the Nottingham School of Art & Design (Nottingham Trent University), where he also serves as Director of Doctoral Programmes (DDP). He specializes in cultural and sensory studies, with a focus on Michel Serres’s philosophy, visual impairment, and aphantasia. His research bridges art, design, and ecology, emphasizing inclusive practices and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Education: PhD in Film Studies, University of Nottingham, with a background in literary and film agency work. Research interests include sensory design, intersensory experiences, and the ethics of perception. He has secured grants from the British Academy and NTU’s Institute for Knowledge Exchange Practice (IKEP), leading projects like 'Learning Aesthetics from People who are Visually Impaired.'
Key collaborations include My Sight Nottinghamshire, Nottingham Contemporary, and the Sensory Studies research directory (Concordia University). Awards include the 2023 Film-Philosophy Annual Article Award and HEA Fellowship. He supervises PhD students and has presented globally at conferences such as Uncommon Senses (Montreal) and 'Darkness' (Svalbard).
