Dr. Kenneth Wilder is a Professor of Aesthetics and UAL Professor in Reception Aesthetics at the University of the Arts London (UAL), affiliated with Camberwell, Chelsea, and Wimbledon Colleges of Arts. He holds a PhD from UAL (2009) and an MA from the Royal College of Art (1984). His research focuses on the phenomenological experience of art, emphasizing non-visual engagement for visually impaired communities and the role of spatial design in art reception. He has exhibited globally, including installations in the UK, China, Germany, Sweden, and Ukraine.
Wilder has secured significant grants, including the AHRC-funded 'Beyond the Visual: Blindness and Expanded Sculpture' (2023–2026), which explores tactile and sensory art engagement for the blind. A prior UKRI grant (2021–2023) investigated non-sighted modes of beholding art, partnering with institutions like Tate and the Henry Moore Institute. His work integrates disability studies, analytic philosophy, and contemporary art practices to redefine curatorial and spatial accessibility.
