Yvonne Michael, ScD, is a Professor of Epidemiology at Drexel University’s Dornsife School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Her research focuses on Social Epidemiology, Aging, Women’s Health, and Health Disparities, emphasizing the role of social and environmental factors in population health.

Research Interests: Dr. Michael’s work examines how neighborhoods, built environments, and social conditions influence health outcomes. She developed the Senior Walking Environmental Assessment Tool (SWEAT) to evaluate walkability for older adults and has contributed to studies on gentrification, urban greenspaces, and disaster impacts on healthcare systems.
Publications: Her recent work includes analyses of gender-based violence in Latin America, cognitive health in aging populations, and the effects of neighborhood environments on mental and physical health. Over 150 peer-reviewed articles reflect her focus on translating epidemiological findings into actionable public health policies.
