Dr. Yvonne Dudzik is a Researcher at the Institute of German Studies within the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Rostock, working as a research associate at the Uwe Johnson Edition of Works of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities since late 2021. She holds a doctorate from Ruhr University Bochum where she studied German and Philosophy with a focus on Uwe Johnson.
Her educational background includes foreign language studies (Japanese and Chinese), a DAAD lectureship at Nanjing University in China (2016-2018), and previous work at the FOM German-Sino School of Business & Technology in Essen. She has taught Modern German Literature at the University of Rostock for multiple semesters, with courses focusing on Human-Animal Studies, German classics, and contemporary literature.
Dr. Dudzik's research interests center on Uwe Johnson studies, Intercultural German Studies, and Cultural and Literary Animal Studies (CLAS). She has made significant contributions to digital humanities through her work on XML markup of texts and digital editions of Uwe Johnson's works. Her scholarly output demonstrates expertise in textual criticism, editorial work, and the intersection of literature with historical contexts, particularly regarding German division and television studies.
