Antje Pautzke serves as Deputy Head of the Uwe Johnson Research Center and Archive at the University of Rostock's Institute for German Studies within the Faculty of Philosophy. Her primary responsibilities include cataloging Johnson's manuscripts and letters, preparing the Complete Works Edition of Uwe Johnson, and supporting archive users.
Her research spans modern German literature, university and science history, museum theory, and archival science. Pautzke's scholarly work demonstrates deep engagement with literary archives, manuscript organization, author correspondence, and textual scholarship, with particular focus on Uwe Johnson's work and legacy.
Analysis of her publications reveals consistent methodological approaches to archival research, with recurring themes of document organization, manuscript accessibility, and the relationship between authors and their archives. Her work bridges literary scholarship with practical archival science, examining how researchers interact with literary collections and how these collections shape scholarly interpretation.
Pautzke completed her studies in German and Political Science at the University of Rostock by 2009. From 2010-2012, she worked as a research assistant on projects concerning habilitation history and attention rhetoric at the Institute for German Studies before joining the Uwe Johnson Research Center in 2012, where she simultaneously pursues her dissertation on Uwe Johnson and the Leipzig Circle of Friends.
